Mayor Morris - Campaign Statement 2005

My top priority will be fighting crime and drugs. Taking on gangs and drugs will make our city safer, our
economy stronger, and our schools better.

CRIME: Fighting gang violence and drugs are my top priority! I'll work with the Drug and Gang Taskforce
that I helped organize and lead as Juvenile Court Presiding Judge. When I made the decision as a criminal
prosecutor and Superior Court Judge to go after gangs and drug trafficking in our city, my family and I were
threatened. I stayed the course because it was the right thing to do. I'll apply that same approach to solving
problems facing our city.

JOBS: Safer streets will give businesses the confidence to expand and locate here. Working with our business
leaders, I'll cut red tape, end frivolous lawsuits and personally recruit businesses that bring higher paying jobs
to our city.

EDUCATION: Quality, safe schools are critical. I'll partner with students, parents, our school board, college
and university to end school violence and increase graduation rates and job training opportunities.

I'll be a mayor with integrity and courage to make tough decisions, and bring a record of "problem-solving"
leadership.
