Paid for by the Committee to Re-Elect Mayor Pat Morris 2009 - ID #1278701
Campaign Statement - 2009
Four years ago, you elected me to make our city safer and strengthen our local economy. Together, we've
made good progress but critical work remains:

CRIME: Today, almost 40 additional police officers are patrolling our streets, and 16 more are coming with
stimulus dollars. Under my leadership, violent crime is at its lowest level in decades. Murders are down
almost 45% and auto thefts are down almost 35%.

We won't back down on crime-fighting, and I am focusing our new City Manager and Police Chief on
eliminating graffiti and blight. Beautifying San Bernardino will be a top priority!

JOBS: Despite nationwide economic turmoil, we've created over 3,500 jobs at our airport and logistics
centers, and we've brought in over $149 million in stimulus dollars. Under my leadership, work is underway
on $1½ billion in public infrastructure for our city:
- 215 freeway expansion, sbX rapid transit system, and our new international airport;

- new downtown county government center and 12-story courthouse;

- a remodeled 18-screen IMAX theater and new transit center.
I will ensure these critical projects are completed. Our city's future is at stake. Together, we'll continue the
revitalization of San Bernardino!

I ask for your vote on November 3rd.
